China General Technology (Group) Holding, Ltd. (abbr. as Genertec) is state-owned company established in March 1998, and has been listed as one of the national, backbone companies since 2000.

　　Genertec was set up on the basis of six specialized trading enterprises, namely China National Technical Import and Export Corporation (abbr. as CNTIC), China National Machinery Import and Export (Group) Co., Ltd. (abbr. as CMC), China National Instruments Import & Export (Group) Corporation (abbr. as INSTRIMPEX), China National Corporation for Overseas Economic Cooperation (abbr. as CCOEC), China National Medicines and Health Produces Import & Export Corporation (abbr. as MEHECO) and China International Advertising Corp, all of which have a history of about 50 years with accumulated import and export volume of over USD 200 billion and have introduced major equipment and advanced technologies during our national economic development. It,s especially noteworthy that the 156 historic key projects brought in by CNTIC to the nascent China lay the foundation for China,s industrial development. Since reform and opening-up, the main subsidiaries of Genertec have implemented a great many projects of infrastructure building, industrial construction and technology upgrading in various provinces, autonomous regions and municipalities covering all the sectors of our national economy, serving as a locomotive powering the technology upgrading and industrial restructuring in our economy and driving our national economic development.

　　Genertec is China,s largest service supplier for procurement through tendering and technology introduction. It is one of the major companies in China engaging in the export of large-scale and complete equipment, international engineering contractual projects and foreign economic and technological cooperation. It is also one of China,s major importers, distributors and technological service providers of electromechanical products and the largest company in China,s foreign trade of medicine and health products.

Since its establishment, Genertec,s major operation indexes have been on an upward trend in a continuous and steady manner. Besides it has been leading the industry in terms of the state assets value preservation and appreciation rate. In 2006, Genertec achieved sales revenues of RMB 12.7 billion, with a value preservation and appreciation rate as high as 128% and total assets worth RMB 18.8 billion.

It has accumulated rich resources in introducing advanced technologies and major technology equipment and overseas engineering contract and developed strong ability in business operation and exploration as well as a global operation network covering the major markets at home and abroad, enjoying a good brand image and sound credit. From 2006 to 2007, Chongqing Automobile Research Institute ( transformed into China Automobile Engineering Research Institute recently and abbr. as CAERI) , formerly under direct control of the State Assets Supervision and Administration Commission and Coal Industry Jinan Design & Research Institute Co.,Ltd.(abbr. as CJD) joined Genertec in sequence, further extending the industrial chain and value chain of Genertec and forming new competitive advantages.

　　Currently, Genertec has 21 domestic secondary business entities, including a listed company, and 33 overseas companies and offices (including those managed directly by Genertec and those run by its subsidiaries), maintaining stable trading and cooperative relations with more than 100 countries and regions in the world.

　　The strategy of Genertec is to give priority to the development of manufacturing, adjust the development of international trade and engineering contract through innovation, finance the rolling development of pharmaceutical business, actively and vigorously develop the R&D and design & consulting business, and coordinate the financial, real estate, logistics and leasing business in a prudential way.
